Java Team Lead

As the Java Team Lead for our Commercial IT department (CIT), you will lead a team of developers and drive the successful delivery of various software development projects. Acting as the bridge between the team and CIT management, you’ll manage and proactively report on the project progress while inspiring your team to deliver high-quality solutions. With a solid foundation in Java and outstanding people and project management skills, you’ll ensure the team operates at its best.

We are looking to speak with candidates who have good knowledge of Java 11 or higher, strong experience in Java backend, and knowledge of Object Oriented programming in Java. Experience in leading small teams is also critical to the role.

The role is based in our Ghent offices and offered on a full-time, regular contract basis.

Your responsibilities include

• People Management: Coaching, mentoring, and managing the performance and growth of team members.
• Project Management: Overseeing timelines and deliverables, keeping a constant overview of where we are, what’s at risk and how we can address potential roadblocks.
• Continuously look for ways to improve processes, increase quality and efficiency.
• Communication: Acting as the primary point of contact for CIT management.
• Technical collaboration: Working closely together with the Lead Architect to provide future-proof solutions, through a pragmatic approach and hands-on mentality.

Is this your profile?

• 5+ years' experience as a Java Developer, including 3+ years in team lead roles.
• Excellent people and project management skills.
• Business fluent English, knowledge of Dutch will be an asset.
• The ability to understand and communicate about complex functionality and issues.
• Quality driven, with a constant drive for continuous improvements.
• Comfortable in a highly collaborative international environment with a hands-on and can-do attitude.
• Git experience (GitHub)
• You are versed in Agile and lean development.

A plus

• Knowledge of Hibernate/JPA
• Knowledge of spring/spring boot
• Expertise in using/writing RESTful APIs
• Expertise in microservices
• Expertise in Google Cloud
