About VOW
VOW is building the next generation of sustainable retail in Belgium, blending convenience with conscious consumerism. Our ambition is to open 35 stores in the next 10 years, transforming how people shop for personal and home care products. At the heart of this transformation is retail technology that enhances the customer experience and operational efficiency. We are seeking a visionary Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead this journey.
The Role
As Co-Founder & CTO, you will be responsible for shaping and executing VOW’s technology strategy, with a primary focus on:
Developing and optimizing our e-commerce platform.
Leading the development of Scan & Go technology and in-store digital processes.
Laying the foundation for a Retail Tech business unit, commercializing our proprietary in-store technology.
You will be both a strategic leader and a hands-on technical architect, working closely with the CEO to build a seamless omnichannel experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Leadership: Define and execute VOW’s tech vision, ensuring it aligns with business goals and growth plans.
E-Commerce Development: Oversee the development, optimization, and scaling of our online store, ensuring a seamless digital shopping experience.
Scan & Go Innovation: Lead the design and implementation of an in-store Scan & Go system that enables frictionless shopping.
Retail Tech Commercialization: Develop and refine VOW’s proprietary retail technology with the long-term vision of selling it as a B2B product.
Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing tech team as we scale.
Security & Compliance: Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with industry standards.
Investor & Partner Relations: Work with strategic investors and partners to secure funding and collaborations that enhance our tech capabilities.
Who You Are
Entrepreneurial Mindset: You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and are eager to build from the ground up.
Tech Expertise: Strong background in software engineering, with experience in e-commerce platforms, mobile payment systems, and/or in-store technology.
Retail Tech Visionary: Passion for revolutionizing brick-and-mortar shopping experiences through technology.
Hands-on Leader: Comfortable coding when needed, but also skilled at scaling and leading teams.
Strategic Thinker: Ability to balance short-term execution with long-term business goals.
Qualifications
Experience leading tech development in a startup or scale-up environment.
Proven track record in e-commerce, payments, or retail tech.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture, AI, IoT, and/or mobile development.
Experience with agile development and product management.
Familiarity with European data privacy regulations (GDPR, etc.).
Fluency in English, Dutch or French. Fluency in 2 or 3 of these languages is a plus.
Ability and willingness to work 1 or 2 days per week in Tienen or Leuven is a MUST.
