As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in the financial management of our company. You will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. You will work closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and cash management.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, in compliance with Belgian (BE GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of accounts.
- Prepare tax returns (VAT, corporate tax, etc.) and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
- Participate in internal and external audits, and provide necessary information and documents.
- Implement and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Mentor and support junior members of the accounting team.
- Collaborate with other departments (finance, legal, etc.) to provide relevant financial information and support strategic decisions.
- Perform financial analyses and reports for management.
- Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and best practices in accounting.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in accounting, ideally in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Excellent knowledge of Belgian accounting standards (BE GAAP) and IFRS standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (ERP, Excel, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of Belgian tax regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong sense of rigor, organization, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in French and English (knowledge of Dutch is a plus).
