The Account Manager will be responsible for the retention and growth of your book of business for a group of clients in the BENELUX region. Responsible to manage the customer expectations, establish and enhance the relationship through all management levels available. This individual will report directly to the Global Account Management team in the region that they are based but will be guided and complete work requested directly by the customer on site.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage assigned account including all communication to and from customer on a daily basis and be available to the customer for escalation.
- Work as intermediary for communication between customer and their operations teams and Crane Worldwide network.
- Work with operations team to provide tracking information as requested by the customer – provision of proactive communications – checking milestone updates & capture the gaps & root cause analyzes & maintain ocean tracker to provide visibility.
- Escalate all issues with a shipment immediately to the customer to ensure prompt resolution.
- Manage all customer requests and follow up to insure that the customer needs are met.
- Assure that all pre-alerts from origin offices are assembled and completed based on SOP requirements.
- Send all required reports to customer on a daily, monthly or quarterly basis as deemed necessary.
- Responsible for managing the required customer generated reports and ensuring accuracy.
- Bookings of ocean containers – inbound delivery and outbound loading times/dates – working closely with on site inbound team to determine suitable planning activity.
- Work with various origin offices to determine whether allocated volumes are sufficient for future growth / decline and adjust as necessary.
- Pull together detail of container utilizations into and out of the facility – work with the Global Account Management team to advise on areas in need of improvement or ideas to improve utilization / cost reduction to the customer.
- Actively seek continuous improvement opportunities – either through process improvement or lowering TCO.
- Manage AR and AR payment collection.
Ocean Co-ordination:
- All lanes of ocean activity.
- Improve current usage of barge terminal storage by controlling the inbound flow of product.
- Look to use SSL free days, followed by planned delivery rather than using the terminal.
- Reduce the amount of days by efficiently coordinating the inbound flow of containers.
- Create a document that captures all inbound containers (regardless of carrier) and effectively plan delivery in most cost effective manner.
- Interact directly with planning teams to prioritize inbound shipping.
- Capture all shipment door to door transit times and update milestones for accurate visibility.
- Identify transit time improvements through analysis and suggest other improvement opportunities.
- Capture trends in demurrage and detention and proactively work to reduce/eradicate costs in this area through effective planning.
- Capture and evaluate container utilization for all ocean shipments – analyze data and provide potential solutions in either consolidation opportunities, changing order frequencies to better utilize containers.
Air Co-ordination:
- All lanes of air activity.
- Work with material planners to proactively ensure arrival.
- High level of communication by email and phone.
- Be the first to advise material planning teams of any divergence from the original delivery plan.
- Develop weekly conference calls to liaise and update all necessary teams.
