Platforms & Software Engineer - High-Voltage Battery...

At LKQ, we’re looking for a passionate and experienced Lead Engineer to join our newly established pilot center for multi-brand high-voltage battery services in Brussels. In this exciting role, you will take full ownership of the battery service process, from diagnosis to repair, testing, and recommissioning of high-voltage batteries. You’ll develop repair procedures, design methodologies, and lead the technical direction for future solutions that meet the needs of various automotive brands.

The role requires a hands-on, problem-solving mindset. You will be diving into the details of failure modes, often disassembling and reassembling batteries to understand their issues and develop solutions. Your expertise will drive the creation of industry-leading processes and methodologies that ensure high-quality, reliable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the entire battery service operation, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Develop strategies for diagnosing and repairing high-voltage batteries, considering the unique requirements of multiple automotive brands.
• Create and implement development methodologies to ensure that all projects meet agreed-upon timelines and costs.
• Take a hands-on approach in investigating battery failure modes, including disassembling and reassembling batteries to identify root causes.
• Design and implement appropriate repair procedures for high-voltage batteries, ensuring quality and reliability.
• Validate and qualify used parts for reuse, ensuring they meet necessary standards for aftermarket service.
• Identify and source specialized diagnostic and testing equipment to ensure the best tools are available for the team.
• Assess the feasibility of providing aftermarket service with both OEM and independent tools, ensuring cost-effective and efficient solutions.
• Regularly review and improve safety measures to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Gather, structure, and share knowledge about battery failure modes and solutions to keep the team informed and aligned.
• Engage with suppliers and customers to build and maintain strong relationships, reinforcing LKQ’s reputation as a trusted partner in the automotive industry.

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or similar) and at least 5 years of experience in process or product development environments. You should have hands-on experience working with high-voltage batteries and be trained in high-voltage systems.

We’re looking for someone who has a strong problem-solving mindset and embraces a “fail fast, learn fast” approach. You’ll need to be comfortable leading the charge in developing new processes and overcoming challenges. Excellent communication skills in English are essential, and if you know Dutch or German, that’s definitely a plus!
