LKQ is seeking a Lead Engineer for High-Voltage Battery Service to join our newly established pilot center in Brussels, where you will lead the entire battery service operation for multi-brand high-voltage batteries.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing repair procedures, creating methodologies, and designing future solutions for the diagnosis, repair, testing, and recommissioning of high-voltage batteries. This is a hands-on position, requiring you to dive deep into the technical aspects of battery service and take ownership of the full service cycle. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of the automotive industry as we work to ensure the highest quality in high-voltage battery services.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Lead Engineer for High-Voltage Battery Service, you will:
- Own the full battery service process, developing strategies for diagnosing and repairing batteries while considering the unique requirements of multiple automotive brands.
- Create and implement effective development methodologies, ensuring that each project meets timelines and cost expectations.
- Investigate battery failure modes hands-on, including disassembling and reassembling batteries to identify the root causes of issues and develop practical solutions.
- Develop aftermarket-specific repair procedures for a range of battery applications and failure modes, while validating and qualifying used parts for reuse.
- Identify and source specialized diagnostic and testing equipment, ensuring the team is fully equipped with the best tools available for efficient service.
- Assess the feasibility of providing aftermarket service using both OEM and independent tools, ensuring cost-effective solutions for battery repairs.
- Review and enhance safety measures, ensuring all procedures comply with the highest safety standards.
- Gather and structure knowledge on various failure modes and solutions, ensuring that the team stays informed and aligned.
- Engage with suppliers and customers to build and strengthen partnerships, reinforcing LKQ’s reputation as a trusted partner in the industry.
Who You Are:
We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, innovative, and has a strong problem-solving mindset. To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or similar).
- At least 5 years of experience in a process or product development environment.
- Training and experience working with high-voltage batteries and high-voltage systems.
- A problem-solving mentality with a “fail fast, learn fast” approach to challenges.
- Fluency in English, with additional knowledge of Dutch and/or German being an advantage.
