We are currently looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer specialized in networking and cloud technology. The successful applicant would be required to attend site for at least 2 days in the Bruges office.

The Role: Senior System Engineer Networking & Cloud

We are looking for a System Engineer experienced in networking and cloud to strengthen our team. As a Senior System Engineer, you will be a key player in our system engineering team, managing and maintaining our telecom platforms for major mobile operators around the world. Your expertise in networking and cloud technologies will be crucial to supporting new Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) projects. You will also contribute to the design, implementation of best practices, and security policies for our telecom solutions. The role includes but is not limited to:

Network Design & Configuration

• Design, configure, and maintain networks for new and ongoing MVNE projects.
• Implement and support firewall/VPN solutions to ensure secure connectivity.
• Perform regular network health checks and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.

Cloud & AWS Expertise

• Design and implement cloud solutions with a focus on AWS, following industry best practices.
• Act as the team's AWS/Cloud expert, guiding cloud strategies and solutions.

Security Management

• Develop, implement, and enforce robust security policies and best practices.
• Conduct comprehensive security gap assessments (both internal and external).
• Translate customer security requirements into clear, actionable technical configurations.

Platform & Software Maintenance

• Manage and maintain telecom platforms for major mobile operators, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Develop expertise in Pareteum’s proprietary software solutions to support platform enhancements.
• Engage extensively with Microsoft technologies, including MS Windows Server and MS SQL Server, to support infrastructure needs.

Mentorship & Training

• Train and mentor junior system engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering professional development within the team.

About You

The ideal candidate has a strong expertise in network design and cloud solutions with a passion for staying ahead of technological advancements. You are eager to share your knowledge and are excited about the opportunity to immerse yourself in the latest innovations in the telecom space. To be considered for the role we require you to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Engineering, Network Engineering, ICT, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant role.
• In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and related protocols.
• Hands-on experience with configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network devices.
• Experience with platforms like Nagios and Grafana for proactive network monitoring.
• Expertise in tools like Wireshark, TCPdump, and Nmap for troubleshooting and analysis.
• Familiarity with cloud architecture and best practices, particularly within AWS environments.
• Solid understanding of security policies, guidelines, and frameworks to ensure compliance.
• Ability to convert security requirements into precise technical configurations for secure operations.
• You are comfortable working in English and comfortable to work from our office in Bruges 2 days per week as well as joining our on-call rota.
