We are seeking a Drug Discovery Scientist to join a leading research-driven organization in Belgium. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying and optimizing novel drug candidates, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. You will work in a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with experts in medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, and pharmacology to accelerate the development of innovative therapeutics.
Outline of responsibilities:
- Design and execute drug discovery experiments, focusing on target identification, validation, and lead optimization.
- Develop and implement assay systems for compound screening and mechanistic studies.
- Analyze and interpret biological, pharmacological, and chemical data to guide drug development strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including medicinal chemists, bioinformaticians, and toxicologists to advance pipeline projects.
- Stay up to date with the latest scientific advancements and contribute to research publications and patents.
- Utilize high-throughput screening (HTS), molecular modeling, and structure-based drug design to optimize lead compounds.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (GLP, GMP, or other relevant standards) and maintain detailed documentation of research activities.
Education:
- PhD or MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in preclinical drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, or pharmacology.
- Hands-on experience with cell-based assays, enzymatic assays, or in vitro screening platforms.
- Familiarity with hit-to-lead optimization and ADMET profiling.
- Experience with small molecules, biologics, or RNA-based therapeutics is a plus.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, high-content screening, and bioinformatics tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in drug-target interaction studies.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
