As an A&R manager, you play an important role in supporting the A&R Director in executing the label’s A&R strategy. Smash The House strives to find and develop new artists who have the potential to grow into A-list acts, whilst you help finding the right songs for their projects, feedback (early stage) demo productions from the acts while overseeing all ongoing developments and eventual recordings of projects to all artists on the roster.
What will you do:
- Identify potential new talent, concepts, trends within the music industry and flagging these with the A&R director
- Identify artists for review and possible signing
- Work closely with the Director of the company to formulate deal prospects
- Work with the Product team to set out priorities and release timelines
- Manage deadlines of releases with (newly) signed artists
- Provide A&R direction, feedback and overall support on assigned projects. This includes shifting through demo’s of the talent to finding suitable toplines/songs to pitch, or eventually setting up sessions or teams with the writers and producers of the artist
- Support and enhance the creative vision of the signed artists
- Project management of all phases of the musical production until the release
- Work closely with the other departments of the label, including Product / Creative / Marketing
Who you are:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in A&R and preferably music production or additionally in songwriting/publishing field
- You have big affinity with dance-music
- You maintain a good level of communication in English and Dutch (both verbally and written)
- A pro-active and pragmatic team player, able to form and maintain relationships across both internal and external networks
- Able to handle confidential matters appropriately and with discretion.
- You do not possess a 9-5 mentality and are able to properly deal with (last-minute) deadlines
- You are willing to travel to events to scout new talent
