Wat ga je doen?

As accounting manager, you are responsible for the correct and complete processing of the monthly and yearly closing conform Belgian GAAP, IFRS and corporate policy and for the timely delivery of the validated figures.

You will be in contact with the different business units for which you are responsible for processing the income/cost. You act proactively on outstanding issues and questions of the different business units.

Of course, you will also be managing a team of accounting experts. In the beginning, you will act as right hand of the current accounting manager and work on financial projects. You will take on a helicopter view and bring your expertise to a higher level, broadening your scope. You will contribute to the structure of the department and optimize processes.

Essential responsibilities:

• Responsible for compliance with the statutory requirements for the different entities in Belgium:
• Preparation of statutory accounts
• Preparation of corporate income tax declarations (including all formalities), including calculation of prepayments
• Responsible for tax accounting and IFRS tax reporting
• Responsible for the monthly closing of the balance sheet and P&L taken into account a strict deadline :
• Calculate and process accruals based on information received from other departments or reporting sources and in accordance with Belgian GAAP, IFRS and business policies
• look at the outcome in a critical way, taken into account (monthly) evolutions
• check all the accounts for which he/she is responsible
• look constantly for optimizing the closing process
• Is in direct contact with the different business units for whom the accountant is in charge :
• knows the underlying process that steers the income/cost
• takes up issues or outstanding actions during the month in a proactive way
• adapts changes in the accounting process in accordance with the company’s guidelines
• Responsible for the balance sheet and P&L reconciliation :
• correct validation of the assets and liabilities during a monthly balance sheet reconciliation.
• follow up and take actions on outstanding aged debts and receivables
• reconciliation of the different systems that are linked to the accounting process
• Involvement in financial projects

Education and Experience

• Degree in accountancy (master or bachelor)
• Experience with multiple IT systems
• Hands-on proven experience of at least 5 years in tax and statutory accounting (by preference in multinational environments)
• IFRS Knowledge
