Senior Credit Analyst


Job Responsibilities:

This position will work closely the VP of Credit Management and Marketing to evaluate exposure to prospective and existing customers, taking into account customers’ operating performance, financial viability and creditworthiness, asset base, industry and competitive position, outlook, credit ratings, trade routes and other key credit and market factors. Travel to regional subsidiaries and selected customers will be necessary.

Key responsibilities will include:

 Properly analyzing credit/market data and financial statements to determine the degree

of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.

 Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, the results of your

analysis.

 Effective understanding and application of policies, procedures, and practices for

granting credit and receiving payments.

 Making informed recommendations in cases where financial information is not available

or is incomplete.

 Researching all available sources to measure customers’ competitive strength and

viability.

 Recommending and monitoring credit and asset exposure limits for customers.

 Performing periodic credit reviews to monitor any changes in customers’

creditworthiness.

 Following and communicating industry trends which may affect credit worthiness of

customers.

 Working closely with A/R department to monitor collection efforts as well as assist in

monitoring accounts older than 90 days and on the watch list.

 Providing support and guidance to the marketing group with respect to structuring a

transaction that minimizes risk to the company and yet allows for the deal to move

forward.

 Keeping all appropriate staff informed of current credit developments and solicit their

input and consideration.

 Working on special projects as needed.


Skills Required:

 Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance or accounting;

MBA in finance or accounting is preferred

 Five or more years of credit analysis and/or credit risk management experience;

commercial lending and/or leasing experience preferred but may not be necessary if

candidate possesses strong credit skills.

 Understanding of GAAP and/or IFRS accounting rules and the ability to comprehend a

full set of financial statements, including footnotes.

 Understanding of insurance coverage and insurance risk management.

 An understanding of the different cultural business practices around the globe with the

ability to work from one region to the next. A strong knowledge of the European, Middle

Eastern, and Mediterranean regions preferred.

 Fluency in speaking and writing in English required. Knowledge of additional languages

such as Dutch, German, and French is a plus.

 Experience with or capacity to quickly learn legal aspects of lease contracts and the

legal aspects of credit risk management.

 Excellent Excel skills, solid Word skills, and experience with databases.

 Ability to put forward arguments clearly and concisely, analyze information and use

sound judgement to make good decisions.

 Strong interpersonal skills – must be able to communicate with financial, accounting and

operational contacts of customers, either over the phone or in person.

 Must be at a commutable distance to the Antwerp office.

collaboration skills, possessing the ability to work across a diverse array of teams.

customers.

multi-tasking and responding to inquiries in an efficient manner.

information.

Base salary 61-71 Euros plus 10% target bonus
