Senior R&D Automation Software Engineer - Life Sciences Opportunity in Belgium

Our client, a global leader in life sciences technology, is seeking a talented Senior R&D Automation Software Engineer to join their innovative team in Hoegaarden, Belgium (less than an hour from Brussels).

Role Overview

In this position, you will develop sophisticated automation solutions for life-changing therapeutics, working with cutting-edge technology in a regulated environment. You'll be responsible for creating PLC/HMI software that advances future therapeutics from discovery to delivery while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new PLC and HMI software based on client requirements
• Create wiring diagrams and pneumatic systems using Eplan Tools
• Select components and perform power calculations for system designs
• Build prototype panels with appropriate certifications (BA5)
• Develop and review automation requirements and technical documentation
• Implement verification processes and cybersecurity measures
• Collaborate with global cross-functional teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
• Strong experience with Siemens TIA Portal and PCS7 platforms
• Proficiency with Eplan Tools for electrical and pneumatic system design
• Knowledge of relevant standards including IEC-61010, IEC-60204-1, IEC-61326-1
• Experience with regulatory standards such as GAMP5, 21CFR11, ISA-88, IEC-62443
• Understanding of emerging technologies (AI, MTP)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a global team environment
• Experience in regulated industries
